AT3s work great

I swapped out the stock Bridgestone's on my 2018 TRDOR for the Cooper AT3 265/70/65 C load. The ride on highway is comparable, although slightly stiffer. From a noise perceptive the decibel app on my phone actually measured them as quieter than the stock tires by 1 db @ 70 mph (2 minute average noise measurement). In full disclosure I also swapped out my wheels for for the TRD Pro wheels - I don't imagine this would affect noise, it wasn't an isolated test of only the tires.

It's for a different truck, but this thread just convinced me that the Cooper AT3 is the right move.

It went on my pickup, but it spends most of its time on-road, but still gets to hit a dirt road a once a month if I am lucky.

I didn't want to get a dedicated road tire, so this thing seems like it was a good fit.

The only thing I FORGOT to tell them, was I wanted the white lettering on the outside... it was too late to say anything by the time I remembered.

So far this tire seems like a solid compromise for someone who wanted road performance with enough tire to get to a camp site off-road.

Hercules anyone?

I have a set of Toyo's on my rig right now and they are getting really noisy as they wear so I am starting the search for a replacement. I am semi-satisfied with the Toyos but they just are too noisy for my liking.
Enter the Hercules Terra Trac AT II. The pro reviews on them are all very positive with some saying they are the quietest AT tire reviewed, the other categories review high as well. I believe they are made by Cooper and they also have a 60K warranty so that is bonus.
ANy experience here with them?

I had Terra Trac AT2s on the Ford Ranger I traded in for my 4Runner for about 6 months (until the aforementioned trade-in), and they were great. Quiet, great traction on wet roads, dry roads, gravel. There wasn’t any snow on the ground while I had them, so I can’t speak to traction in snow. But I’d highly recommend them, and will probably look into getting them when I replace the stock Bridgestones.

Do you still like these AT3's?

Cooper AT3 275 in C...I’m running them currently. 10k and they have been perfect for my needs. Great in wet conditions, quiet on road and hold their own off road in mud, sand, dirt and rocks.

Cymon, how are these tires doing for you? I have a 2015 limited and am swapping out the wheels for 17in TRD's and looking for AT tires. Will drive 4 seasons with sand and some off road. Mostly highway. Noise issues? 275's with no lift?

Any other thoughts out there?

Love them. Noise is slightly above stock but quiet for an all terrain. The only issue I had was a slight balancing issue, but a road force balance corrected that and I haven’t had any issues since. I have no issues with rubbing in the 275, but the TRD’s have a slightly different backspacing then the SR5 and trail/TRD off-road wheels so you might get a little (each vehicle with alignment is a little different). I now have 20k on them and tread depth is like new. If I had to buy tires again today I would make the same decision, they are perfect for my needs.

I’ve had a few sets of westlake SL369 tires on vehicles, the price is great and performance was superb. These are the latest set which are 275/65r20 and barely rub on reverse turns which will soon be alleviated by a slight lift.

Older thread but my $0.02 as a soon to be 4Runner owner.

Loved the Coopers on my Tundra, albeit in a much larger size. Price is right and very good all around performance. I did switch to Falken A/T3Ws when the Coopers finally gave out. IMO and experience the Falkens and Coopers were almost identical in terms of fuel economy, comfort, and noise (Coopers maybe slightly more fuel efficient based on weight). The Coopers most definetley last longer though. I will say that if you live in real snow country as I do (meaning there is snow on the ground almost daily for 5-6 months of the year) then the Falkens stand apart as being far superior in the snow and ice.

The new 4Runner is arriving tomorrow and the first thing I am doing is new tread (Falkens propably). I assume they will be the same as having them on the Tundra but you never can tell.

Anyone have experience with the Falkens on a T4R?

I have recently switched to the Falkens after my Cooper At3's were almost worn out and a large screw prematurely had me swap them out (after 60,000 miles). I was very happy with the Cooper's but experienced all of the same things so far that you stated above with the Falkens in comparing them to the Cooper's after the 1st 5,000 miles. I have been very impressed with the Falkens especially in the rain and snow (we traveled up to Vermont this winter). On road they are similar, although I think the Falkens may even be quieter. I would say for the price the Falkens are hard to beat.

I have the falkens with about 45k on them. I dont have much to complain about them. I haven't a ton off roading with because of new baby and moving around quite a bit the last couple of years but they have handled just about anything I have thrown at them. I have lived west to east coat over the last three years. They are great in all weather conditions from pouring rain to snow. I probably lost about .5 and they do get a little louder as they wear but I will definitely be replacing them for another set. I think for the price they are hard to beat.

Anyone running the Toyo AT2? They don't offer the 275/70r17 but they do come in factory size. Am wanting new tires for the wife's new TRD ORP and plan on LT since we live in the Ozarks and these rocky roads will give a P-metric tire flats pretty quick. Thoughts?

I'm running the P version of the AT II and so far it's been a great tire. Quiet and smooth. As much as I want the knobby aggressive look of a M/T tire, realistically I'm not off-road enough to sacrifice the comfort of this all-purpose A/T tire for daily driving.

I'm on the fence between those and the Kumho Road Venture AT51. I, too, am headed to Utah this Summer and need something that can perform on service roads / fire roads + better rock protection than the HTs I have.
