I bought my 1997 Limited 4Runner in February 2012. I got it from a fellow t4r member. My wife and I flew up to Boston to get it.
lane: I was kinda taking a big gamble on this. It was the first time that we would have seen it in person. We decided to make a vacation out of it. Ended up driving all the way from Boston to Birmingham, Alabama and back up to Jacksonville in the next two weeks. The 4Runner did excellent. The only problem came when we were about 60 miles from Jacksonville. The rusty muffler pretty much fell apart and consequently became extremely loud for driving on the interstate. Especially with a tired wife and two kids.:mad2:
As it was the day I bought it.
My lovely wife was surprisingly supportive of the whole idea. I think she just enjoyed some time away from the kids.
How it sits today. Pretty much exactly the same. Its been a slow work in progress. Mostly focusing on fixing some rust issues and preventative maintenance. Just waiting on them funds...
The previous owner had already lifted it, put new wheels and tires on it, replaced the lower ball joints and a few other things that I cant remember off the top of my head.
