Attention bfg kO2 owners, how are your tires a year later?

Hi y'all!

I have 275 65 18 E rated ko2's on my 08 4runner, 1 year on the car, 20k in, still "look new' lots of tread but i bounce in them like im on a bus or a truck- what i mean is the suspension isnt bouncing but from minor bumps on the road, its like im jiggling up and down in my seat.

my mechanic said its the tires..i said, shit well thanks... my last duratracs didnt do that, they were C rated

is this normal? are my e rated wheels out of round? bad balancing, no vibration or anything on highway at highspeeds,

totally confused


ps.. brand new ome suspension/ lower control arms/links/ bushings 883 front 895e rear

Yep, I agree with your mechanic. My 285/60R18s ride the same. I have mine at 36psi and it's not too bad. What you describe is certainly noticeable though in my truck.

And I should suffer for my vanity... the tires look cool as heck. Next time I'll probably do a C load rating though, having learned my lesson.

2nd set

Just put on my second set and would have held out another year but with an online deal and planning on going to the FJ Summit I just had to a set. Plus I sold the old set for $150. Love these tires and will stay with them

so you get that bounce feel inside? aweee man , i've made my truck in to a stiff monster , my dog hates me for it, every bump!

E rated tires on a light half ton seems too much tire.

OME tends to have a rougher ride, I'd mark it down as a combination.

Currently running a full OME setup and mine is bouncy when unloaded. I've bolted on a bit of weight which has helped with that, but I can still feel the difference between a full and an empty tank of gas as far as ride comfort. 18" wheels will also give you a firmer ride than a smaller with the same OD tire size.

I have to chime in here, i had my 02 runner for 15 years or more, and went through a few tires. Just before i sold it i put on a set of Wildpeak M/Ts in 265/75/16 E rated, they were the best tires i ever had on that vehicle on road it handled great, soaked up the bumps, and holes with ease. They were not harsh because of the stiffer side wall, and i think they added to the handling very well. This was the first set of E- rated tire i had run on this vehicle so yes i could tell the difference, i was really impressed with the solid, not rough feel of the tires. But hey, that's just MHO.

Wish they made the 275 KO2s in C instead of only E rates. I opted for the 265 because of that. Rides great still.

Tires / suspension combo

I just went from all stock, to new OME Suspension setup.
I also have BFG KO2s...

Yes, there is a noticeable stiffer / bouncier ride when unloaded...but then i expected that.

In my opinion, it could be the combo setup...i did not realize that tires alone could influence the bounce as much as you state. Learnt something new today.

I certainly don't feel that. I got my tires in January and I don't feel like I am in a bus . It could be the load E rating and them being more beefy giving you the spring effect since it can't absorb the minor bumps since they are harder. I have load C and I don't get those jingles/minor earthquakes

Another thought i have is, nothing is leaking BUT, could the front new ome 90021's have messed up with under 6k miles on them?

Today was a icey day, i felt for the first 10 min driving my car was way lower on the right side for some reason- shock issue? spring? something froze ? haha

I had E rated BFG's on my 95 and no such bump/vibration feel. The 95 actually road down the road smoother than my current 06 with C rated Cooper Discovery ATs. I'm actually looking to go back to load range E this week on this 4runner. My experience is E rated tires ride better and less road noise than C rated. Again that is just my experience.
