attention owners with AHC...got a question

So i finally sold my truck and have been looking for some 4runners. I found one that is really nice that is really in my price range. Its an 03 LTD w/123k miles and AHC. It is spotless and has been maintained consistently. I was wondering how these systems are holding up as the mileage gets higher on your 4runner? I know its way higher mileage but with the service records it looks good. A few of my family members with this system had the rear end start sagging on them after a while but maybe they have changed for the 4runner. thank in advance for the info.

The automatic leveling suspension is a rare option on the 4Runner. Few members here have that system. A common issue is the height sensor gets dirty or goes bad resulting the 4Runner being stuck in the high or low position. A few have cleaned the sensor(s) and got the system to work normally. I think maybe one or two have had issues with the compressor for the automatic leveling suspension.

IMO, it's a great option if you tow.

by any chance do you know if there is any specific maintenance that has to be done to them?

With the AHC, you won't be able to lift the rear with spacers (if you were thinking of lifting later on). If going with other type of lift coilovers, you'll probably have to ditch the factory AHC.

I have the AHC for almost 2 years now and it hasn't given me any trouble. Researched lifting with spacers and there's only one person I know of that was able to accomplish it but had to get some parts machined. It was a custom job by a shop in Canada.
