In the market for a lift that will work with my XREAS until they need to be replaced. I know that leaves me with minimal options as far as lift height and tire size.

What I want to know from you wonderful resources are your thoughts and opinions about your 3" lift. What are the pros/cons? What is the difference in the ride/handling? Gas mileage? Clearance on the trails? Maintenance issues?

Secondly, I would love to hear everyones opinion on the "best" tire/rim combo (size and make) to compliment this lift? Do you use wheel spacers? Size?

What I am getting is the Daystar 2.5/2 works very well and gives better than 2.5 in the front.

Spacer lifts are the only way to retain Xreas.

Daystar users report a better ride quality in the rear of the vehicle because it retains the cones in the springs.

Some prefer the poly construction over the metal and vice-versa.

Price, no knowledge, no comment.

Reliabilty, there all good.

Quality, they're all good. It's more about design and careful install. Which brand of kit is the best one probably varies with which lift you seek.

Well I really hope you get some, or better yet many, opinions other than mine to assist you in your decision.

There should be no need to reiterate my reasons as I have mentioned them many times in the past (i know they say the search doesnt work too well but there are numerous recent times as well) and have documented them in my detailed write up so you can read them there at your leisure.

But quite simply the main reason for DS over CF is my personal preference for a greater allocation of lift from the topout side than from the preload side. CF is the exact oposite...greater preload, less top. Now I dont prefer 100% topout so I cannot recommend the new DS kit, but the old style seems to be available from Wheelers still.

That said please read the write up...That is why I write them so I can refer to them over and over and not have to reiterate the same things again and again. I like to help out and love to answer questions when my write ups are lacking a specific area of interest, that helps me improve the next write up, but I dont like it when I get messages about something that is specifically spelt out in the work already done and posted and you can tell they havent read it. :bash: :bigok:

I have the older daystar lift with 2.5/1.5. It's a bit closer to 3 inches for the front. Ride quality is awesome! Not much of a difference at all. I have this on my 08 UR with Xrea. The rake is gone...the car sits pretty even to me.

that was my MAiN deciding factor, but also most said that the daystar ride was a lot better than the cornfed

Gas mileage-Minimal to none. Maybe 1 MPG.
Ride quality- tolerable unless you off-road.
You can get a set of 33" tires on if you get wheel spacers with a 3" lift.

The rear shocks being so short does get annoying. Especially off road.
Long drawn out roads out on the bumpy lava rocks can get tedious. I just cruise em and pound sounds so I don't really care, I got my cornfed 3/2 used for cheap and it works for me.
If you know what your getting yourself into and don't mind wasting a couple hundred bucks if you upgrade later, just rush em.
I want to just rip out my xreas (the lines all over the frame are ugly anyway) and sky this bad boy with some fat chrome reservoir shocks

XREAS is overrated. I too wanted to keep it and go with spacers. I got talked into a coilover lift and I'm soo happy with it. Glad I ripped out the stock shocks. I left the lines in place because I'm lazy, but you can just unscrew the connectors for each shock.
The coilovers install easier than the spacers, give you adjustable lift height, better ride, more travel, etc. The ONLY downside is the price, but by the time you spend $300 on spacers, $350+ in labor, you're halfway there for a real suspension.

i suppose! i really have no idea. the daystar used to be more expensive but recently came down a lot in price. im not sure why but im not complaining at all

oh wait yes i am complaining because my lift was out of stock and now im stillllll waiting to get it. ive had my tires for over a week no just sitting there staring at me... argg wheelers needs to hurry up with that ish !
