ATTN: ICON suspension owners, do your front reservoir hoses rub?

Hey folks,

I'm still fine tuning my ICON install, the external reservoir brackets just dont work at all on (2014 in my case, not sure about previous gens) KDSS equipped models so I had to hack them up to get everything installed, but I'm noticing the hoses are extremely stiff, and impossible (as far as I can tell) to rotate at all.

Everything looks fine, but my hoses just barely come in contact with the coil springs, which seems like a potential issue down the road. Anyone have experience with this? I don't see anything in the instructions that's helpful in this case.

Check my build thread. [MENTION=68685]Ducmonsta[/MENTION] did my install and he had to modify the brackets to mount the reservoirs correctly. There's a picture there somewhere...

Yeah, that'd probably be an issue over time. I don't have the remote resi shocks, but the 2014 chassis should be almost identical to the 2010-2013. Maybe some pics of how you have them mounted would help people give you some pointers.

You can adjust the hoses so that they angle better, but the above photo is what it should look like. Mine has about a 2mm clearance on my wider than stock coilovers, but that's all you need.

Thanks folks, it's better now. Not sure why it hadn't occurred to me earlier, but undoing the hose clamps and twisting the reservoir a tiny bit gave it the requisite clearance. Thanks for the photos -- the pictured install looks very similar to how I ended up doing it

i have the same problem i tried twisting the remote resi but it didn't work. gonna see if i can check it out better tomorrow and add a second way to adjust it.

I had issues with the brackets and KDSS. I used some self tapper hex head screws and sank them into the frame. With this method, I was able to fine tune location of the brackets forward. No real rubbing and any place I though may be suspect, I wrapped some 5/8" heater hose around the remote hose and zip-tied it. It acts as a cushion and wear point. Learned this trick from years of growing up in a radiator repair family.

no issues with contact (at least last time I checked a few weeks back) however I did have to hack up the brackets to get the reservoirs to fit properly where I wanted them (15 with KDSS). I would say if you are rubbing the hoses you may want to try to re-position.

Side note, what UCA's are you running? I have the icon Tubular.

In OKKI's picture above i basically cut the bracket shortly after it kicks out at an angle, and then mount the resi's vertically. I will say that there should be NO difference between the 2010-2015s all the geometry is the same. Ive installed the same kit on every year. I also mount the rears differently as well.

2016 TE non-KDSS is rubbing driver front. Took it to installer and I think they twisted the resi to try and get clear but they still suggested a hose and zip tie fix...You guys see anything that looks off? Also trying to hunt down a serious sounding pop that can be heard from several trucks back when on the trail. Like something's binding up then releasing with a bang. We can't find any signs of contact though.

Might have found the source of the loud pop. No clue how myself and the installer couldn't find this before when we were searching for signs.

I'm about to install these myself in a couple of weeks. Is the general consensus that the supplied mountain brackets don't work out of the box? There needs to be modifications made to get things working properly?

FYI per icon support instructions the hose rub and coil/UCA contact problem solution is to adjust the upper and lower cambers to create more clearance between UCA and spring. He also gave some instructions on how to adjust the hose fittings to help with the geometry but I'm not gonna go that route as you can loose fluid if not careful. It's going back on the rack soon to adjust lower arm camber as close to full positive as possible and adjust uppers out to get 0 or slightly negative overall camber. Hopefully that works and within spec and maybe it'll help with my kinky cv boots too.

Something looks very off with your suspension, ive not seen any control arms hit like that before, DO you have them mounted on the correct sides?

Thanks for the reply but I think I'm all fixed up now. Took it to a great toyota off-road shop and alignment is perfected and now have plenty of hose and coil clearance after adjusting the UCAs outboard.
