AUER (OEM) 2 in 1 LED DRLs install

Purchased brand new from the dealership originally to go into my 2016 limited.

However on the 2016 limited the shield (see video 2:19) that piece is now molded into the front bumper so to install these in a 2016 limited you would need to either cut that "cover off" or remove the whole front bumper and modify accordingly.

Has anyone else install these in there 2016 Limted yet?

I am considering getting in there and cutting of that "splash guard" with a hot razor blade...vs removing the whole front bumper to get in there.

For what it's worth, it's actually pretty easy to remove the front bumper.

True that already started moding the 4 runner. Took off the roof rack today. And am planning a sub woofer upgrade upgrade all the factory speakers hid head light upgrade and already have lift kit in hand and the mod list will get longer lol

Going to take off the front bumper if its not raining tomorrow and get the installed.

Looks good. Throw up some install pics when you get it done. I just picked up some custom DRLs that are built into the plastic faux grill inserts on a 16. There was an issue with one of them but think a DRL that looks great on a 4Runner is always a great idea.

got them put in after 3 hrs od work..

word of warning pulling wires through the factory grommet in the fire wall is a pain in the :llama:
and I have 10 years experience installing alarms and stereos and I knew what I was doing and it still was a pain in the :llama:


had to take the bumper off twice...
when i was pulling the wires through the fire wall it pulled the wires inside of the loom and ended up pulling the driver side DLR harness wires out of the connector so had to but splice in an extension to get them wired up.
they done give you much slack FYI

temp is about 5000 or 5500k

first picture is the back of the 2016 limited fog light housing self explanatory
second picture is the MOLDED IN SHROUD :frusty: that makes you remove the 16 limited bumper to install these led DRLs
3rd picture is just the DRLS
4th picture is DRLs ( yes they stay on) with fogs and low beams on
5th id hi +low + just DRLs ( did not do the fogs always on mod) will do that later

6thi is the cut off pattern set at the same cut off height as the factory fogs were

So I am just confirming and it seems obvious... the kit that Toyota offers as an accessory is in fact the AUER kit. When I bought my 2018 ORP I chose to have this upgrade dropped in. They didn't give anything back to me that had the AUER name on it and after looking them up online it seemed pretty obvious that this is what they were. I really like mine and I think having the DRL LED option gives it a very unique look with the Dot Halo pattern. I had them covered with yellow film as I absolutely hate the chrome bezel look, and when I finally get my Kustom54Lighting headlights that are blacked out they would stick out like a sore thumb. I was a little conflicted that after the fact I saw the Morimoto Fog Light Kit that look AMAZING. If you want an aggressive, blacked out look those are the way to go, the only drawback I saw was that they don't have a DRL function which I really liked about the AUER. Anyways I'm curious if anyone here has seen both and can weigh in on their preferences about all of this.

On the custom headlights I have being made right now there are a set of DRL LEDs, there is like an Audi strip and a half halo. If you go on Kustom54lighting you can see a lot of similar examples. At this point I will be interested to know if the FOG DRLs will compete too much with the headlights DRLs. Interesting what you said about the wiring, I never thought about the fact that there may be a compatibility issue with them and the aftermarket lights. At this point I am just going to keep the Auers until I get the headlights installed, see if there is a problem and potentially get the Morimotos if need be.
