installed yesterday. and WHOA. its intense. def gonna some getting used to. BUT. absolutely amazing what ive been missin out on. clicks pretty bad right now, but i guess i only have 100mi on it currently.

install was pretty straight forward, took a little longer than i expected, air tools would have been nice. other than that everything went pretty smooth.

very interesting ride at low speeds. will update as time continues.

and me having a 5speed v an auto seems to make a big difference too. i have to be a little more careful with my shifting and engine braking. put crappy 75w90 oil in for now, prob gonna change at 600mi or so. thats what the break-in period is supposedly. we shall see.

ALSO, After much debate, i have confirmed that i have 4.10 gears even though my axle code and everything on the vehicle points at 3.90's.

hmm that doesnt quite seem right. I cannot really tell my lockright is even in there. The key is drive mellow. You have to take it easy. That is my main reason that I tell people to be sure they are really into wheeling before installing one.

Use 80-140w oil or 85-140w and it will really quiet things down

well, i cant say i drive "mellow", but now im kind of trying to. its def installed correctly and has been tested. and i cant really tell if its there unless i stomp it down pretty good. but at a crawl off road its amazing. and yes, i would rather drive down a wooded road to work every day if i could, but i cant. i pretty obsessed with the outdoors in every way imaginable, so its an upgrade that i have wanted pretty much since before i ever got the truck. im pumped for the trail to open up in uwharrie and may hit up gulches in the next couple weeks in upstate SC.

all in all. im pumped. and love the newest upgrade. it does exactly what its supposed to. definitely might go for some thicker oil tho.

just another thought .. . its just different for me. thats all. im used to a straight up open diff, powering through turns, engine braking alot, and obviously you just cant do that with the auto locker type. i think i will be happy.

Its worse with the 5spd like you and I have, shifts will sometimes have a clunk, you really have to take it easy. Coast OUT of corners. I hate driving in the forests with my lockright. uphill corners are pretty bad, Plus the synchros in my trans are worn and I cannot get into first without a complete stop.

Just drive like your 90 and it will be almost unnoticeable. the best advice i can give you is haul butt toward a corner, then push the clutch in and hold it all the way through the corner.

After 6 months you will have it down

you are so right about the power thing with the 5 speed. if im jerky with my shifting, it seems to clunk a little. i found that finesse with the gas and clutch is the ticket. this thing is sweet.

What do you think of the locker now?

wouldnt be the same without it. i love it.

would i like an e-locker? yeah, for sure. am i going to the trouble of retrofitting one? no. do i have the motivation to go swap an e-locker axle from the junkyard? nah. not happening anytime soon.

short answer: yes, im happy with it. and about to put one up front too. . .
