Auto-Dim rear view mirrors - compatible vehicles

My '99 originally came with the auto-dimming rear view mirror but for some reason before we bought it it was taken out and a crappy one was put in instead.

my question is: I happened to find one on craigslist for dirt cheap but it's from an '07 Tacoma. Would it be compatible with mine? Even if it's not, it beats the hell out of this flemsy one I have now. Did I mention he only wants $25 :D

yes if you can make it fit then it will work, all they have is a sensor inside which is the same for most vehicle, then you gotta use the volt meter to find which wire to tap, but if your 99 came with it it should have a harness already in place

If the guy doesn't have the harness then I'll have to buy one. But my 4Runner came with the auto-dimming feature to begin with. It was just taken out for some reason. I have the original window sticker and it shows it as an option with the truck.

Mine has it and it works great. Even has a compass in it. It is glued on the windshield verses the stock one where it is mounted in the sunroof switch housing.
