Auto headlights

This may sound stupid or even be stupid for all I know BUT the auto selection for my headlights used to work like .. when it started getting a little dark, close to dusk, the headlights would come when selected, or turn off as it started getting light. Well, that all worked like a charm but now, after this little cold spell we had here in Florida, when the selector is in Auto the headlights act as daytime lights, they are on when the truck is on and after I shut it off they stay on for a period of time like they always did and then turn themselves off. Did my electronics have a stupid attack during the low temps or what?
