Auto Leather Inc (ALI) kits on ebay

Does anyone have any experience with purchasing leather kits from a company advertising on ebay as Auto Leather Inc or ALIleather?

Their prices are really good but I am a little scared to purchase them because they are unable to give me a color sample and are not able to provide very much information about their leather kits. Their feedback is really good but not sure if that really tells me anything.

Has anyone dealt with them before? What was your experience like?

there are two based out of FL, I bought mine from the guy in St. Pete. ALI is the other from Mirimar. there are people on here who bought from them and some loved the leather, but someone thought the grey looked too much like the tan and not like the stock grey leather. I was going to buy from them but bought from another guy I found on eBay cause he was $50 cheaper and was in the area so I could look at them first. Both places are charging $100 more than when I bought mine just over a year ago.
I bought mine from accessoriesrusfl and he is actually cheaper. I went and picked up locally from him cause I am in the area and he was a nice guy, he gave me extra black leather to use for the door panels cause the grey seat leathers come with grey door panels.
I don't have any experience with ALI, but would recommend accessoriesrusfl.

I bought a kit from them about three years ago. The leather quality is some of the best I've seen from aftermarket leather companies (Classic Soft Trim is slightly better). I had no problems with ordering from them either and they were pretty helpful with the questions I asked them prior to purchasing. I do not have the kit in my car anymore because I really didn't like how the seat pockets on the back of the front seats looked. I replaced the kit with one made by Bartlett, which Pirate VI mentioned in his post. The leather is not as high quality as the ALI leather, but the design of it looks better.

I'd definitely take a look at Classic Soft Trim, I liked their kit a lot better. You'll have to pay a premium for it though.

this thread is about ali, and the possible matching/non matching issue. I see in one of those pics what tkr128 was talking about with the pockets, I dont like those either. The Bartlett ones do have nicer pockets.

Whichever ones you go with, make sure you ask if they can throw in some black door inserts, It makes it look alot more like factory than if you install the grey inserts.

I bought a charcoal kit from them about a year and a half ago. For the money, you can't beat them. Very nice product.

How hard are these to install yourself? I am one to try things himself first. I would like to get these for my 05 Runner but affraid as to what is involved. I would also like to install the seat heaters as well. I have read many posts and I see where many used zip ties underneat instead of the rings. Do you need to unbolt each seat out from the vehicle?

I do always do everything myself, and it wasn't that hard, its just tedious and you get some sore/cut hands. you do have to unbolt all the seats from the car. On average I would say it took me about an hour and a half per seat. I used the zip ties, I don't know how I would have been able to hog ring it, you have absolutely no room to work with a lot of time. I would say you can do it yourself if you want to save money or have the satisfaction of doing it yourself (both why I did it) however I was quoted 300 by a few places, if your time is worth more than this, or if you don't want to cut up your fingers and spend a week carrying seats around and having them in your house then it may be worth it to have someone else (who has experience and practice, which may make it come out better) do it.

I had aftermarket leather and DVD player installed in my SR5. The leather is thicker than the factory leather. I had a couple of chaffing issues on the folding second row seats. They came to my house, determined the problem, and came back to my house with the proper fix. It has held up well with my kids. I'll try to get pics and company info tomorrow. I also like the DVD. It has a 10.5" screen and 3 headsets for my 3 sons.

A friend of mine was very unhappy with their leather installed in his Dodge. It looked pretty good at first, but it wasn't nearly as durable as you would expect in an OEM leather seat. If I were you, I'd look into Classic Soft Trim leather. I believe every dealership uses their leather kits for customers who want OEM-like leather.
