Auto shifter hot!

After about 30 minutes of driving the metal part of the shifters getting hot! Is this normal? I did have a new cat and muffler put on recently... Can't really remember if It was like this prior to the new ca/muffler. I did notice there is not a heat sheild between the cat and the transmission... Anyway can anyone give some advice to a noob. Is this normal or is there a problem somewhere?

Mine gets a little hot after awhile and I'm stock exhaust. Pick up a tranny cooler from amazon like 40 bucks.

i would say when you had the new stuff on the shop tore out the heat shields.

How hot is hot? Mine gets warm to the touch after a while and I have a tranny cooler. I always just assumed it was normal.

I get heat off the tunnel, but never from the shifter.

Should there be a heat shield between the cat/muffler? Because as I mentioned there is not.
