manuals say only 1.7 to 2.1 quarts refill, but I drained nearly a gallon Id swear. is this normal?

did mine yesterday it took 4.3 quarts to fill back up.

well, after only 2 qts refill the level on dipstick reads at COLD. manual says this is ok. but that cant be right. I should have to replace the same amount I drain out. Correct?

If the transmission is warm or hot (at operating temp) and the fluid level on dipstick is at the cold mark, then you still need to add more fluid. Yes you need to add the same amount you drained, for mine it was about 4 quarts. (01 sr5 3.4)

yeah, the more I thought about that over the wkend, I was thinking the same thing. havent driven her since changing the fluid, so I'll add it before driving. thanks guys.
