Auto trans random shifting after fluid drain, what now?

Almost a year ago, I had a shift solenoid take a crap. I replaced it, so in turn I had to drop the trans pan and I replaced the solenoid and the filter/screen while it was off. I did not FLUSH, just drained and filled.

Ever since, I will get random times where when it shifts from 2-3, it will essentially throw itself into neutral and not go into 3rd. Most of the time I can manually put into N or 2 and back to drive and it will shift fine afterwards.

I am NOT getting a code, its only from 2-3, its not slipping as if I get on the gas hard, just granny driving. I can't duplicate it when I want, just very random.

I'm assuming something was "knocked loose" when doing the drain and fill. Is my only options to try another drain and fill and replace the screen orrr.....?

When i did it the first time around 144k, the fluid looked that old, but no means bad or any color that would concern me.

If another drain/fill wont or doesnt help, what's my next step?

This is a shot in the dark and something I'm assuming you have addressed, but does the weird shifting correspond to this solenoid? Was the solenoid replaced with OEM?

I dont remember which solenoid or the code, i have it documented but the original defect was that it was shifting into O/D or something. not the same issue. It was not OEM. I would think that if it was the solenoid, it would quickly throw a code. Before, it was throwing the code BEFORE I even saw symptoms of a faulty solenoid.

Have you checked the fluid level?
