Auto trans slipping?

Today, I think I noticed my auto trans on my 94 slipping, 173,xxx. I am not sure though, as I've never felt it before in any car I've driven. I hopped on the highway on ramp and I felt like the vehicle didn't want to shift. I was going about 55 and the rpms were around 4500. Usually my rpms are around 2500 at that speed. After a few seconds, right before I considered getting off at the next exit it shifted. Didn't make a noise, didn't feel hard, it felt pretty normal. Is this a slip and how concerned should I be? I tried replicating it later this evening but could not.
I've owned it since March and my mechanic said the trans seemed pretty strong before I bought it, besides the dark trans fluid he didn't seem too concerned. The fluid has since been changed twice. Once right after I bought it and two days ago (2500 miles after buying it). It wasn't flushed (was advised against it), just drained the pan and transfer case. Did I screw it up by even touching the trans fluid? I'm pretty worried about it, but on the upside am thinking this may be a good opportunity to take care of a seeping main seal and convert to manual...

ADD: After some reading I wanted to add that I maintained speed. Hitting the gas did accelerate the vehicle, but the rpms kept climbing.
