Auto dimming side view mirrors

I just saw these on the Gentex web site! Gentex makes these with or without turn indicators and they dim in tandem with the auto dimming rear view mirrors. I tried to find a supplier and couldn't, so I called Gentex. They said that Toyota developed a set for Siennas but not for 4runners. I could really use this feature since Vietnam claimed my rt eye and if the left gets blinded I'm flying blind. Trying to fumble for the mirror adjust in the dark is distracting. Anyone else out there with special needs in this area or just thinks this would be a great safety feature? I guess it would take alot of calls to Toyota to get them on 4runners. The tooling for each mirror runs into thousands of dollars

I doubt Toyota does make them for the 4Runner because the GX470 doesn't even have auto dimming side mirrors. I want this feature too! Toyota can at least tint the side mirrors like Acura and BMW does.

Nice rig Mark! I'm new as you can see and can't figure out how to put a picture in that spot. The feeling at Gentex was that they could sell lots of these as port installed items, but not enough to warrant tooling them. I think that Toyota would have to come on board for this to happen. Mirror coatings would be nice too. Hey they offered me a tour of the plant if I'm ever in MI

Thanks a lot! To post a picture in that spot, you have to go into your personal settings and click "change avatar." I don't even think it would be that difficult to install auto dimming side mirrors. All you need is the glass and power.

Yeah, not that tough. Just like any others except for the lines going to the auto dimming rear view mirror. I wonder if any other companies do electrochromic technology.. Thanks for the tip on the avatar. Do you have to size it or does the forum do it?

As for file size, you have to have it under a certain size. The forum takes care of dimensions and all that.
