Automatic shift knob

Just sourced an awesome condition 02 Sport with 130k miles on it. Thundercloud Paint is nicer than some 6 month old cars.

One oddity i cant figure out. Mines has a traditional T shift knob, while others i see same year have the nontraditional style - the button on the top and you hold from the side.

Any rhyme or reason? My 02 Taco Prerunner had the nontraditional.

I think the t style are the non-4wheel drive.... Sorry to disappoint

All tacomas had the regular one and all 4wd 4runners have the regular one. 2wd 4runners have the "T" one you talk about.

Bummer.

Ah that makes sense. Not to worry, my '15 is a 4WD
The '02 is the wifey's and is gonna stay on pavement.
