If you didn't already know, DARPA is having a contest for "Autonomous offroad driving from Barstow to Vegas" this coming 3/13/2004. The price is $1 million. There will be no human involved. Check it out here: http://www.darpa.mil/grandchallenge/index.htm
The offroad course will be 250 miles and vehicles have to be driven only by software and have to complete within 10 hours!
The qualification demo will be at California Speedway from 3/8/2004 to 3/12/2004 and is opened to public, free admission.
