Bumping this to see if anyone has tried this yet? I’m considering ordering a few sections to fix my frame before it gets too bad to save.
 
Another bump... can’t believe no one on here has tried these yet! Seems like a viable way to add many years of added service life to otherwise good trucks whose frames are bad.
 
I don't see why they shouldn't work well as long as it covers the corroded area but my preference is to cut out the junk and fill it in with new stuff. I have 3 spots I have done this to on my frame. The Autorust panels are 1/8" thick so as long as you have enough good metal to weld to it's worth a try.
 
I live close to them in RI and only knew about them becuase I was on a 4runner hunt and one had it done locally. It looked well done and from what I hear they are great to deal with. Seems like a good resource for sure. They also sandblast and coat bottoms too in various ways. Given all the frame rust we encounter I bet some one will chime in soon. Side note, I asked around and from what I hear they do a brisk business with a good rep.

I watched some videos on them I found on YouTube (fixing Jeeps since they seem to have serious frame rusting as well). That is exactly what they do. They cut out all of the rotted stuff with a plasma cutter, then coat the inside of the frame and new caps, then weld them on. Some of the panels even have suspension mounting brackets on them which is very helpful. I sandblasted, primed, and painted my frame a few years back, but it obviously still keeps rusting from the INSIDE where you can’t access. Hopefully, once I cut out the problem areas and use these caps, it will last the life of the vehicle. These frames really piss me off because the rest of the truck holds up so well.

Thanks, that’s good to hear. Yes, sandblasting is definitely the way to go, especially when you are able to cut the bottom open and access the inside!

That right there is the crux of the problem. My opinion is the only way to keep it at bay is to keep the inside of the frame soaked with oil. I'm going to try bar and chain oil as I've seen videos of it working well because it's sticky. I already coated part of the outside on a hot day to see how it would hold up. So far it's looking pretty good.

Funny the videos you watched did Jeep's as my DD before the t4r was a 99 Cherokee. I welded frame stiffeners on it to last as long as it did but the rust kept coming from the inside. I was adding new metal to the frame almost on a yearly basis.
 
I used this company and their stuff on my old TJ. it was a great product and was easy to install, from what the frame shop I used said. high quality and fit like a glove. fixed my rusting frame issues perfectly. I'd use them again if I had to.

I agree. I plan to clean and coat as much as I can while it’s cut open and accessible, but ultimately spraying oil in there annually is probably the best way to keep it at bay for the long haul.

Awesome, thanks for chiming in! I figured there HAD to be someone that has tried these caps before, even if on a different vehicle. Planning to pick up a new welder in the next few weeks since my old 110v Lincoln flux core MIG isn’t really well suited for something of this scale. Especially running full length continuous beads like you need to do these properly.

How much time is needed to get the frame off the truck? damn!

I filled out that form yesterday and already received a callback from the representative to submit more information.

If anyone has a rusty 4th gen frame, please fill out that form and get some momentum to force Toyota's hand.
Also advised to keep paperwork and receipts of repairs and maintenance in case the request for frame replacement succeeds fully/or reimbursement for repairs.
