Autoventshade bugflector

While installing the in channel deflectors i cut the inside of my hand between the thumb and finger. It seams the bottom of these are flat and cut like a razor if you hand slides along it like mine did. Wrote the company about this that i think it would be better if they rounded the bottom. They offered me a free bug deflector or front mats for my trouble. Wrote them thanks but i already bought NY Ranger NHL car mats for the front and really didn't like the look of bugdeflector on my 4Runner. My sister has a 99 Camry but she might be getting a new car so can't get anythng for that. been watching you tube about these bugdefectors and was wondering how everyone else stands on them. Do they really protect your truck?

Does a bugflector really protect your truck?

I kind of doubt it-but hey it deflects the bugs right up to your windshield where perhaps they are easier to squeegee away with your wipers...

yeah, you totally should have gotten either item and sold it here. BTW, it is not surprising that the corners were sharp. If you have even worked with plastics, you have experienced that before...

As far as protection, yes they absolutely do protect your car. I can't say much about protection from bugs, but if you commute on the highway, they will save your hood from chips. In just 2 years or driving, my 40mi commute out tons of good sized paint chips on my brand new hood (my old car, not the runner). I started getting them on the runner, so I picked up the AVS bugflector ii. Don't care what it does for bugs, but now crap will hit the bugflector instead of the leading edge of my hood.

Any brand should really work, not trying to promote one over another. I wanted a weathertech, but they were more expensive and not available locally.

It sure kept the big rock from smacking my hood and it does keep the leading edge of the hood chip free.

they say it puts a stream of air over front of the car protecting it form bugs and rocks. Doesn't look that good kind of reminds me of the guy next door with the curb feelers when he came up from florida lol. How do you connect it to the car?

Funny you mention a guy from Florida because that's exactly the people that should know if it works or not with their lovebug problem. Those things are horrible down there in certain areas.

ok so they are sending the bugflector 2 smoke color. I read on another site that heat over time wears the tape away and the shiled moves around and scraches the hood, is this true?

watch the you tube video on it, says limited lifetime warrenty and it is supposed to handle rock hits. My 4Runner is red so the smoke might look good on it, i'll have to see it.

did you stick them round clear bump things on the bumper paint or the shield?
Washed the car today and i can see where the ricks are hiting the hood

I have the bumpstops but never used them as the shield doesn't touch unless you force it back with your hand.

i put it on the car and it looks pretty cool, makes it look MEAN! Like i could smash through walls and stuff just find them little plastic plugs can't hold it on.

I looked at my bugflector II today and noticed it not only stands way off the top of the hood but well infront of it. I thought it would be tight up against the edge but it's not, is it that way for everyone?

Can someone post a picture of the deflector installed from the back side?
