Autozone proformance engine real?

SO im Rolling to About 280K.. and Even tho she is Not Causing any problems yet. I still Went looking in to a new Motor Instead of Rebuilding.But AUtozone remanufactures motors SO when I went to the store to buy a few items, I was just curious on how much a motor would cost. and for around 3800 they have a motor that was called proformance 4runner motor? is it any diffrence between a stock one? ones proformance and the other is sunfire is there a difference in HP AND TQ?

Looks like they sell two types. The Proformance and a Surefire models. Both kinda expensive. You can find them at the following link.

A Proformance motor will be a remanufactured motor, not a new one. I think you can still get new OEM 5VZ-FE's from Toyota, but if so, they will be expensive.

Reman engines are a crap shoot. I have a Proformance 22RE in my '85 4Runner and it is turning out to be a great motor but I have had some bad ones from other 'premium' rebuilders too. If your 280K factory engine is running strong, keep it.

i think a motor from toyota is gonna be close to $7000... pretty much the cost of the truck but its new with a warranty lol

NO Im keepin her.. but I wanna Yank her out and just To a total Rebuild from the ground up and prefect her. BUt i just want a diff Motor in there mean while. but mybe thats all a pipe dream lol.
