Aux Port On 4th Gen

Hey guys,

I have searched all over but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I want to finally be able to listen to my iPod through an Aux port or other direct connect to the head unit. I currently have a 4th gen with factory nav and rear seat audio. Does anybody know how I can install an aux port or ipod connector to my radio. Also, I would love to know what products you guys recommend. I have received many different answers from dealers about whether it is possible or if I can disconnect my RSA and plug in an AUX cable instead.

isn't there aux input on the inside of the center console??

On my 07 non jbl non navi there is.

I wouldn't of seen it unless I looked at this forum, you have to pop a cap off.

Nope, that feature was introduced in 2006.

I have a 05 limited with navi and RSA too. The previous owner installed a usaspec PA-15, which plugs into the back of your navi headunit. There are a lot of posts on here about it. There are other options as well but this one has a small box that you just put under your dash, has a cable that plugs into an empty plug on the back of your navi headunit, and has another cable that you can run back into your center console that is an ipod plug. The headunit thinks that your ipod is the non-existent CD changer(our cars don't have a separate external CD changer so that plug is empty on the back of our navi). You can control the ipod from your navi and use your steering wheel controls as well. It also will display the song/title info for the songs on your navi screen.

I am actually going to be taking mine out here in the next couple weeks and selling it so let me know if your are interested in it.

I have the USA Spec PA15 too, and I love it.

(I hate my ipod but love the PA15.)

Go to Best Buy and get one of those cassette tape ipod adapters. They're cheap and user friendly. Put in the cassette tape into the player then hook up your ipod at the end of the cord.

Mike, thank for the input but my truck doesn't have a cassette player.

I had the usaspec PA-15 installed in my truck today. The ipod plug is in my glove box and the radio uses the sat input. Took around an hour and it sounds great. If u guys have any questions about it let me know.

Quick question, I was playing around with the device at night and noticed the ipod is still charging when my truck is off. Do I have to worry about this draining the battery? For those with the USA-Spec, have you run into any problems if you don't drive the car for a few days?

You sure about that? Mine does not charge when the truck is off. It says "attached to accessory", but does not charge.

My iPod has the little plug over the battery icon when I turn the truck off. I did a google search and they said that the device charges for 30 minutes after the vehicle is turned off. I went back an hour later and my iPod was not charging so I guess all is well. So far so good!

So the place that installed the USA Spec had it programmed wrong so I had to fix it myself. Basically, there are 4 switches on the back. DIP switch 1 controls the AUX input on the device and DIP 2-4 should be programmed according to the manuel. If all switches are off, the device runs through the SAT menu and if all are on, it goes through the CD changer button. I find it better to control through the CD menu because it shows more information and it allows you to use the AUX port. I now have my satellite radio running through the USA Spec and it sound amazing. Here are a few pics to give you guys an idea of what went down:
