Auxiliary Light Aiming Issue

I just installed a set of PIAA 520 ATPs on my brush guard. I tried aiming them last night per the instruction manual (25 ft away and hot spot 1.5" below the light center line), but was unable to get them to tilt low enough with the mesh guard on. I can get them to tilt down far enough (barely though) without the guards on but want them on. Currently, with them aimed down as far as possible, bright spot is still about 4-6" too high. They do one heck of a job of blinding squirrels in tree tops haha

I would really rather not take the Dremel to the mesh guards. The only solution I've come up with is to stack washers or something to get them up about a half inch or so. The only problem with that is there will be gaps around the washers vs the rectangular light mount. Maybe some type of rubber spacer that I can trim to the same size as the rectangular base. So, do any of yall have any experience with this or have any ideas at all?

pics i need to pics... i have never heard of this issue, and have never had any issues like this with any of my lights PIAA or other. ive mounted lights on brush guards, grille guards, roof racks, roll bars, bumpers ect and never had this kinda an issue. so please post up some pics of what you are having issues with. yes i know it sounds simple and you did a good job of explaining your problem but i cant see how this is happening thats all

Yeah I definitely wasn't expecting to run into this problem bc so many ppl put them on brush guards and wasn't able to find any other information of others having issues. Maybe my brush guard is bent slightly tilting it upward some (I have hit a couple trees with it over the years haha). I may try yanking on the brush guard some.

You could use a nylon spacer. They come in white or black and can be found at any hardware store at different thicknesses.

Or you could use a riser pad from a skateboard and cut it to size if you want something square instead

I'm thinking of trying something like these square washers. I know washers would be an easy fix but worry a little about the stability of round washers. I'm also going to look around for some rubber that maybe I can trim to fit. Is there anywhere local I could look to find skateboard riser pads? That looks like it could work.

The riser pads can be found at you local skate shop; should be able to google or yellowpages that one. They usually have different thicknesses of those, but pay attention to the material because the cheep-o's are soft foam and the rest are usually a hard plastic. Some have designs cut out of the middle too, so try to find a generic looking one like I posted so that there's more material to work with.

take some more pics of your brush guard, and how that bar/plate is mounted to the vertical suports/runners. i suspect that it might be lose or at an angle and not flat, do you have a flat place to park your truck and a small 6"-8" level you could put on that plate to get a good idea of its "levelness" ? i know on my brush guard(looks very similar to yours) that plate can be adjusted to some degree. you might want to look at the bolts and how its put together and see if you can loosen up something and adjust it, -just remember to tighten it all back down good when you are done.
