Average price of new shocks & struts

Hey everyone. Hope someone can help me out. I have a friend down in San Diego that needs her suspension done pretty soon on her runner. She said a place quoted her $900 for new shocks & struts. That seems a little high to me. I don't think she's looking for heavy duty work done since her runner is 2WD. any input or even recommendations for a shop down in San Diego would be great. Thanks!

i got my ranchos in the rear for 80 bucks shipped off advanceautoparts.com.

if u shop online at advance autoparts it will always be cheaper.

i got my fronts brand new on this fourm trekmaster RT/S for 40 bucks SHIPPED. it was a steal basically brand new in box still.

a friend of mine helepd me put it on so it cost me like 120 for front and rear


however, fronts usually run about 60-70 per strut. so ur looking like around 150 for front and 80 for rear..i'm pretty sure if u bought all at one time usuing advanceautoparts.com and use one of their coupons..u wouldn't pay anymore than 200 bucks for a set of shocks and struts that are decent. since ur in cali..i'm pretty sure anyone on here can help u out in that area .

I just ordered Bilstein 5100 front shocks ($180 after shipping) and OME 883 front coils ($180 after shipping as well)

So that's even an offroad setup, for less than 400. The rears are much cheaper.

My old setup was $350 for springs and $300 for shocks. That plus installation may or may not be $900ish. I would check on the quality of the strut and spring they plan to use. If they're OEM springs and a high quality shock (like a bilstein), $900 may be reasonable after installation.
