AVN5435 - steering wheel connect and error

I bought a used AVN5435 off of ebay (so sorry I did, that is another story).

I was under the assumption that the avn5435 would plug right into my steering wheel controls - is that correct? I had the unit professionally installed today and when I tried the steering wheel volume, etc they didn't work. The guy inside said I needed a special connector?

Also, I get the error "check speed pulse".

Can you guys confirm that the avn5435 will hook up to the steering wheel controls (I have a 2005 v6 SR5 w/o jbl amp)?

i have a avn5500 and steering wheel connector plugged into the eclipse included harness 100% ... Easy has hell !

as for the error for speed pulse - the wire is not connected probably, or loose or wrong wire

I had the AVN5435 unit in the Runner for about six months and the steering controls was just plug and play, so much for professional installation.

I am not sure if i should create a new post or just ask you guys in here, well here it is i been debating on getting pioner avic Z1 or avn 5435. price is not my concern, the only thing i am looking forward to get is bluetooth, i do out side sales and i am constantly on cell phone driving form one side to another. i would like to watch a dvd on the down time but not a lot, good to have gps since i am going to see new client all the time, BUT bluetooth is the main concern i have, please advice on what to get
