Axle swap on 95

OK, so I have read here and there about the different stock rations available, but I'm still fuzzy, sorry.

I have a 95, 22r, 5 speed. The idea is to make it a beach rig for fishing Baja, and as such I want to get a lot of footprint so it "floats" on the sand, (not the ocean). I'm hoping a small lift, and 33 12.5 15s to accomplish that.

my tag reads G292, which I have converted to a 8" Gear ring, 4.11 ratio, and 2 pinions. So I found a 95 that is being parted out, its a v6, auto, and the tag reads G144. I think that translates to a 8" ring, 4.88 gear ration, but with 4 pinions as opposed to 2.

Does anyone know if so far I have messed up my tags translations?

Also, if they are correct, can I swap in the diffs into my 4r?

Next is it easier to just bolt on the entire Axle, and not open the pumpkins?
I have never done either, and I'm sure I can manage, but the easiest route is preferable...

I have ADD, but planning on disabling that once I get my hands on some manual hubs, if that comes into play on the swap...

To my knowledge you de coding is correct. Yes they will swap right over. If the other axles breaks and wheel bearings are in ok shape you can swap the whole thing. The rear axle 3rd is a piece of cake to pull. Download the Factory Service Manual and get twerk!

Your gear tag translation is correct the diffs both front and rear will swap. I have a 95 ifs front and a 93 rear both with factory 4.88s. I did the swap to non add axel it's very easy.
