Axxess Wire-Tunes for iPod?

Their (brand new) website is http://www.wire-tunes.com. Anybody ever try one of these? Specifically with a 2005 factory NAV unit? Looks like an interesting and cheap option... if it works...

Any once again the million dollar question is .... Will it allow me to keep the 6 disc changer if I install this on my JBP 10 spk / 6 disc system?


Interesting .... their sales and manufacturer is only a few miles away from my folk's home ......


If anyone was interested in a group buy or something, I could probably walk right in and pick em up....

Here's a bit of a bummer: I had this installed on Sunday. Circuit City assured me it would work on my "05 4Runner with JBL 6 disk. It does not.

I called the 1-800 number and was told very matter of factly that it is not supposed to with this stereo, or the Nav. There are no plans to have a unit which will work at this time. The documentation is horrible.

Circuit City removed the unit yesterday and credited my account in full. Dension has threatened to have a solution within a month (yes, right, I know) and I am going to wait for this solution. Also, Dension tells me that the previous Ice Link (v1.1?) is no longer in stock or available. This did work, but without the text display. The text display on the factory HU should be active when the updated Ice Link plus becomes available.

I want my ipod now.......

Brickmaster --- I am in the exact same boat as you. I am dying to have my Ipod on the 6 disc JBL (w/ text display) ......

How long has Dension been saying "...in a month..." ? Is it unlikely to ever happen at this point?

That's been the story for at least 2 months now. Dension is awaiting delivery from China, or Japan, or wherever they are manufactured.

I have spoken with several local install companies as well. I am sure it will happen, all indications are that you & I represent the millions of ipoders everywhere and there is a real push by numerous manufactureres to bring a solution to market right away. Large demand & short supply,,,,I'm hoping to have something before October.

Here is a question that I have e-mailed to many places regarding the IPod / CD Changer unit.....

It seems that the problem with retaining the CD Changer is that the Ipod unit plugs into the same slot at the CD changer. How hard would it be to create a simple switch with a y-cord to allow you to connect the two and just use the switch to go back and forth between them? I looked at the wiring diagrams for a few of these units, and it seemed rather simple to do. However, the response I got back from the techs was always "nope ... can't do it..."

I've got the PIE unit and it works with the JBL in dash 6 disc changer. I hear the USA Spec also works with the in dash 6 disc.

It's been working for a couple of months now. I had the single disc JBL and it worked, then swapped to the 6 disc JBL and it still works.

No special instructions whatsover....

fuosama - yeah the price is a turn off for me, but if you have Navi it looks like its the only choice... or you can go with FM transmitters but you should kick yourself in the nuts first...

What I like most about the Dension, and what was appealing about the wire link before the failed install, was a single wire connection. The single wire hooked into the bottom of the unit, charged, controlled, and input the song titles & playlists through the HU. This allowed me to stash the ipod in the storage under the AC controls and retain a stock look.

My understanding was that the PIE & USA Spec were multiple hookups. Cost is not my major concern and I would love to be wrong on this. Am I?
