AZ interest in Avid Offroad light bar

Hey all,

I wanted to throw out a thread to see if there would be any interest in having Avid Offroad fab up a light bar like the one they have for the Tacoma. I really like the clean look of it, but they don't yet make one for the 4th gen T4R (or any T4R for that matter).

They were hoping to get a guy in toward the beginning of this year to get the measurements and all, but it never panned out.

Since these guys are in Gilbert, AZ, I thought I'd see if anyone in the vicinity would be interested in having them build one for us. It's definitely a lot to ask, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I'm not actually with Avid Offroad, but talked with them recently about a light bar for the T4R. They said they just need a 4runner in the shop to get the measurements and get one going.

that light bar is siiiick! i would love to see if they would make one of those for our t4r's. maybe make the bars a little beefier and have options of aluminum and black colors. keep on this cuz i would def pay money for this if it ever comes available.

I actually work at Avid and product developement is a very time consuming process, though it's fun to make new things. There should be a group buy we can put together but that's up to the owner. He's actually a really great guy to work for. (<---shameless plug for the owner incase he reads this) :whipping2 Avid is currently developing another product for the 05+ Tacoma's but that item is nearing the end of developement....sooo....we'll wait and see how this light bar comes about. I know he is setting up to have a vehicle on hand for this newer item. Should know more in the next couple day's......stay tuned.:snacker:

For those who have the 2nd Gen 4Runner's, we do have the sliders to fit this model run. Their similar to the 1st Gen. style...either with or without the kick out. You can check the website or drop us a line and your questions will be answered. Trust me, the owner is a nice guy.

I will post pic's once it's a finished product. As far as coming down, we usually see customers by appointment or when custom work or an install is being done. But with that being said, we won't turn any one away. I do believe, the more interest that's generated here for a group buy will definitely have an affect on the final price. The light bar can be shipped out so each individual would be responsible for their own shipping charges. But this is still a detail needing to be worked out.

For the 05+ Tacoma light bar, we do have a standing discount if it's mentioned they came over from Tacomaworld.com. So this might be something we work in. This is still in the early stages of concept so much needs to be discussed and worked out. I will talk with Brandon tomorrow and see if we can't put a tenitive price point together for a group buy. I will restate the obvious: The more people we have for a group buy will more than likely determine 1) how quickly the product get's pushed into design and then production, 2) the final price of the light bar, 3) How many test fitting's we can do to make sure the final product will go on the vehicle's with minimal effort. We do understand that there are variation's in every vehicle's fitment. Though not much, when we do develope a product this is a key point to take into consideration. I could definitely go for some sliders as well, although I do like the look/functionality of the step rails. They would definitely round out the look with that light bar.

I would like to say though, if there can be more interest generated, the cost might come down. If we can get a run of maybe 10-15 order's he might be willing to cut the price a bit more. Though with out knowing how much steel and actual time involved in producing each piece that any price given here would be a speculated guess...I do have a feeling it might be close to the cost of the current offering for the 05+ Tacoma light bar....before any discount's are given.

I can tell everyone here that he is front lining this project. However, we will need a couple more volunteer's once we get the jig set up and build a couple for test fitting. We did discuss a group buy. And while all the details are still in the works, I think we're leaning toward's something like a 6-8 week discount of 5%-10%, just to save those who were on-board for the first run, a few extra dollars.

I do believe we're set up for next Tuesday 9/20/11 for the build vehicle to be dropped off at our location. From there it all depends upon other order's and current project's. I'm sure everyone here would understand having placed an order and then being told they had to wait an extra month and half for us to add a new item might not go over so well.

As more information is available, I will post it up here.
