Hi JLee, I thought you had a post somewhere on the best way to paint these. I didn't see it on the first page of this post or on TW.

I was thinking of self etching primer and then a few coats of paint from there.

They look great by the way, can't wait to get started on these!

Having just installed and painted sliders, let me tell you...paint before mounting! I would mock them up and get everything set. Then weld everything up, including the plates. Set them on a work bench or something and paint. Makes it much easier to get all angles and even coating.

I was impatient and completely mounted mine first. Trying to get them painted evenly and full coverage was a PITA. I was covered in paint dust and am still blowing black boogers!

As for actual painting, I just cleaned them well with brake cleaner, then applied a quality primer. The top coat I used is textured, so I didn't worry about sanding. I applied about a can each of the top coat ( Rustoleum Hammered) in even layers.

Millerad and ARKRWLR - thanks guys. Millerad, I was thinking of doing a texture of some sort as well.

I'll take your advice and mock up what I can, paint then do final install.

Sounds good man just give us a heads up so we can have them built by the time you get here. We don't stock sliders much they fly out the door faster then we can build them.
