Back again---99 Limited

After selling my last 4runner just a few weeks ago I went on the hunt to find one of my other passions, a VW Westfalia. I've owned 3 over the years in Bus form and Vanagon form. Well, I'm just priced out of the market so I need to continue to save. At this point I'm starting to think it's not worth it but once you get the VW itch its similar to here. You just keep going back.

Anyway, a few looks on the internet and I found this '99 Limited for a reasonable price. Only 99k miles, TB/WP done at 97k, and it just happens to have the Rear Locker.

Yes, brush guard and running boards will be removed ASAP.

Only pic so far. I'll get some more once the weather is a little better. The interior needs a good cleaning, the drivers leather bottom is warn. The truck runs awesome though! I just put on some 265/75/16 Toyo Open Country AT's yesterday. Maintenance will start this weekend hopefully. My garage is small and its been way to cold here in the NE. I received about $500 worth of OEM parts and a new Denso Radiator to make sure this truck is up to date.

It does run awesome. Looking forward to getting my hands dirty with it. Thanks again to this site for all of the guides and experiences everyone contributes with. I'll be back with more pics and an update once I can get into it.

62 deg in February! Good day to get out in the driveway and get into it. Truck just runs great but I like to have a good baseline to start with. Also, if it runs this good now, maybe it can even run a little better.

Started with this today

Mostly from the dealer. I'm lucky that I have one of the online discount dealers near me. Genuine OEM Toyota Parts & Accessories | toyotapartznet.com which is Conicelli Toyota.

So knocked out plugs, wires, MAF clean, throttle body clean and gasket, air filter, coolant drain. Got underneath and hit all the drain and fill plugs with PB blaster, hit the running boards with PB also.

I went with the Toyota plug wire kit, my wires where just laying on the motor and missing the clips. I didn't know until I looked it up but the toyota kit has all the clips, extra wrapping, and extra rubber at some points.

Tomorrow I'll replace the radiator, thermostat change, diff and transfer case changes, and oil and filter.

I'll also get a few pictures!

Here is a pic of the Toyos tread, these are P series. E rated are a little more aggressive but also more then 10 lbs per tire.

Nice find! People look for months even years for low miles & a locker & you find one right away. Luck is on your side.

Well, it's one of the reasons I stopped my search for a VW. I saw the miles, the price, the year, the rear locker and thought, these don't come around very often.

Here we go, got the front brush guard off. I didn't hate it as much as I thought but to me a 4runner looks better without. I'll probably sell or scrap. It has some rust bubbling and is bent slightly.

Mostly done, still need to do trans drain and fill, and the diffs and tc case. Maybe I'll get lucky with another warm weekend. For now, get a few miles on it and enjoy.

Front diff, transfer case, and rear diff fluids done. More importantly....the running boards are off.
