Back for round 2, need breakin advice

This reads a little long, but it's a pretty good story. As some of you may recall, I posted back in September about my new to me '90Runner and trying to find a trailer light hookup. Well, that project got put off as something much more sinister developed. White Smoke, lots of White Smoke...as I was turning into the coffee shop one morning. Truck stalled, finally restarted and I parked it.
Now I had just bought this beauty for 3K OTD from a dealer. As it had over 100k showing, no warranty, OK. BTW, It's a 90 4runner, 3.0L, Auto, 4WD, really clean, no rust, Carfax shows it spent almost it's whole life in Virginia Beach and was serviced by one of two Toyota dealers in the area. Showed 170,000 on the odometer, but, but, it also had a Jasper Engine sticker under the hood and on the doorpost.(no joy from jasper after numerous calls) they claim no way to check it out, even from VIN) I'm thinking it had a head gasket problem at some point and should be good to go....
My mechanic informs me that there is oil in Rad and water in the base...this is not good. He also nicely declines even offering to repair it. See, where I'm located, extreme northern NY state...I look across a river and see Canada...I live just outside a "City" that is smaller than most villages in this hellhole state. Be advised also, there are NO machine shops within a 2 hour ride. Which means of course, that there is no one who is willing to take on the repair.
Cut to the chase...made a deal on the internet for a rebuilt 3vze, $1700 deliver to this godforsaken wasteland. Primary mechanic, who has done work on all my vehicles over the last 25 years hooks me up with a young guy who used to work for him but is now the supervising mechanic of a local government transportation service facility. They do everything from cars and pickups to snowplows. He is putting the finishing touches on the engine as I type this. I have been without a ride since the first week of November(well, I did have access when absolutely necessary to SWBO's Rav)...It's all good tho, as it'd been too damn cold to do much outside anyhow and then to add insult to injury, I fell on the ice last month and broke 3 ribs. at 68, that is not a fun thing, I've been sleeping in a chair for the last month.
So, the question(s) is or are...any special breakin procedures you would suggest? Anything that needs to be done before the engine is fired up?
And, as soon as i figure out how to do it, I will post some pictures.

Can't read all this but there's engine break in oil additive that I would run for the first. 10,000 miles

I would call the guy that built the engine and do it exactly like he says. That way if there's a problem with the motor, he can't blame you for not breaking it in right.
