Back from the dead - sort of ?

Hey everyone, I dunno if anyone who is around now still remembers me but I have been away from this forum for a good six or so months now, and just finally have the time and information to bring something back to good old T4R.org. I just picked up some audio equipment at C.C. and am getting it installed Wednesday. The system includes:

Jensen DVD Multimedia head unit - flip out screen.
EC.JSN.VM9412.JPG

Kicker Component VR 12" Enclosed Subwoofers (800 watts RMS/1,600 watts max)
PC.KKR.07DCVR122.RT.JPG

Kicker Mono Channel ZX Amplifier (750 watts at 2 OHMS)...Power Rated at 946 watts inside box
EC.KKR.08ZX7501.CN.JPG

Check back for pictures in a couple days. This system should bump.

Seems like you have some nice equipment going in there. You probably could have gotten it a lot cheaper, but no use worring about it now.

Which wiring kit did you go with?

Tsunami...1400 watt kit. I am thinking about getting at least a 1 farad cap, but I'll wait to see if I get a lot of headlight/interior light dimming after the install. Subs and ported box were $219 with tax, Jensen was $249 and the amp was $299, wiring kit and RCA's were about another hundred bucks, so I ended up paying about $860 out the door.

welcome back KJ!

becareful with those jensons, make sure you go get a warranty!

jenson and dual are made by the same manufacturer and are known for the motors going bad on those flipouts!

i'd highly recommend one! i worked at best buy for 2 years and i cant tell you how many exchanges we had on those duals(same as jenson)

nevertheless they are great units for the price! :)

Word, thanks for the info Move. Yeah I got the warranty, I heard that the touch screens liekd to go out too, so that is why I mainly got the warranty. Where you located in No. VA? We should start up a NOVA 4Runner club fo sho

Let me know if you need a cap. I have a Tsunami 1.2 farad digital cap that im not using and I am looking to get rid off it.

chantilly/fairfax

hahah i cant go offroading anymore than the 1 or 2 times i did before i got 22's :D

bgmac, thanks for the info too. Are you happy with any other Tsunami products that you have used, or is the capacitor the only thing you have from them? I might be interested. I heard that you need .5 farad per 500w RMS so that might just be perfect. The only thing I'm not positive of now is my budget after this purchase haha.

And yeah move, I feel you on that. I went through a phase where I would just thrash my 4Runner, but after my most recent off roading trip, having to deal with frozen on mud/crap was just not worth the thirty minutes of fun. I have a spacer kit in the mail, and yes, I know that spacers are not what you want to increase off road ability (most say it's for looks, and I agree with them). But it's just right for the look I want to achieve. The club wouldn't be off-road exclusive.

CC as in curcuit city?

Yo thanks, your truck is looking good. Jealous of your exhaust system. :bigok: Mine's looking a bit different without the roof rack ( I like it better off), and once I get the system installed I will get some new pictures up.

And yeah, since Circuit City is like going bankrupt or something along those lines, they are closing over 150 stores nationwide. Fortunately for me, there are about 6 withing fifteen miles of my house, and the closest one was actually closing for good, so I figured I might as well take advantage of the prices before everything was gone form the store. So everything in the store was at least 30% off. All car audio equipment was at least 40% off the price in the store, so that is most likely why the online prices don't reflect what I paid for all the components.

sounds like you got pretty lucky! unlucky for me they never overpopulated alabama so i'm pretty sure none of the stores here are closing for me to cash in on their fiscal faults.

Try craigslist if you are looking for anything car audio - I have found it relatively reliable, and even found a good used system for my Lexus a while back.

Got a couple new pictures, Blackberry cameras aren't as good as I expected
:bash: , plus it's a poopy day here in Virginia. I am so fudging anxious to get my stuff installed I had to take everything out of the box and look at it like at least four or five times haha.

I'm pissed that the cargo cover won't fit over the sub and amp setup that will most likely be installed. (the cargo cover slots about 3/4 of the way in with just the subs underneath it, won't slide in at all after amp is installed on top of box):(

Looking for suggestions on how to remedy this problem, because the worst thing that could happen is someone peering in the windows and jacking the system, which I have heard too many cases of. I was thinking about creating a custom bracket for the cover to attach to and then slot into the factory mounts, or simply tinting the windows to like 5%. Input is greatly appreciated.

From that picture it looks like it would slide over it, but you've tried it so you know.

Are you mounting your amp on the box?

If you can't use the cover I would find something to cover the whole cargo area or if worst comes to worst tint your windows.

I don't like the look of two different tints. Ex. 20% up front and 5% in the rear.

I would probably go with double 5% on the two window that are in the cargo area and 5% everywhere else.

Yeah, I know about the tinting, and I think I'm just going to do either 5 or 7% all the way around, minus the windshield.

hey kelly how good of a shape was your roof rack in, mines like a dull black and i recently noticed some minor chipping

if yours is still in tact and still has its color are you willing to get rid of it?

and be careful with tint around fairfax county, anything more noticeable than 20 may get you a nice ticket.

cops around here are very strict. EVEN 20% ! is illegal on the front windows. For SUV's here it is 35% in the front and 20% in the back.
idk why cops are so gay about it, i just had a buddy get pulled and written up for his wrx
