Back in a 4th Gen!!

About a year ago, my current DD was a 04 SR5 that I owned for about 3 years. I had been thinking of upgrading for a couple months and had an itch for a 5th Gen. About 10 months ago, I decided I was going to do it, went in to a dealership looking for a new SR5 or deal on a 16 Trail. The salesman informed me that they had a Cement TRD coming in with no wait and he would sell to me just under MSRP because the buyer had just dropped out. (I guess he didn't realize how easy it would be to find a buyer at the time.) So I pulled the trigger and did the paperwork.

After driving the 17 Pro for about 10 months, which is a great vehicle, I found myself missing things about my 4th gen. Little things like the auto start when you turn the key, the center console fold out tray, being able to actually set a temperature on the climate control (This was actually the most annoying! I don't know why the 5th Gen does not have the ability to set a temp.), the auto securing lift gate, etc, etc.. I also had always wanted a V8 4runner.

Long story short, I put an ad up to sell my Pro to test the water and within 2 days I had a buyer willing to pay just under what I paid total new including the tax! Searched around Autotrader, Craigslist, etc. etc... And yesterday I flew to So Cal and drove back with this! Couldn't be happier!!

2006 Sport V8 103K Miles
Clean and zero rust, So Cal its whole life.
Timing belt, water pump, thermo just completed at Toyota dealership.

Good find . How much? I currently have a v6 but if this one ever dies I'll get a V8.

More than I should have Lol. About $16K. I knew what I wanted.. V8, Black or Mica, Under 110K and preferably a Limited or Sport in great condition and rust free. I found what I wanted so I consider it a deal!

Congrats on the find. I too took the plunge and bought a 16' TE last November. It's a nice vehicle, but just feels like Toyota cheaped out in a lot of ways. I was fortunate enough to be able to keep my 4th gen and now enjoy both. But in all honesty, I find myself driving the 4th gen much more than the new one.

thats not that bad, i would've paid that, i got my 05 V8 May 2016 for 15k with 111k but mine is from Texas that a broker bought and drove back here to SoCal

‘Cheaped out’ is right. That’s my biggest beef with Toyota. I got a 15 SR5 Premium, and that vehicle is 25k dollar vehicle in my mind. I got it, 4Runners are expensive, but for what I paid for my 15, you’d expect something a little more than side mirror blinkers and a back up camera.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great vehicle and I love the design and would take it over any new SUV. I just couldn't justify the price and it even felt underpowered compared to my 04 V6. I don't regret buying it as there is no other vehicle that I would completely recoup my money after putting 20k miles and driving for 10 months! Also the 5th gen itch is gone and Im happier than ever rolling in a 4th gen!

Meh, I've always thought that if it's what you really want then the price doesn't matter as much when you're talking about a grand or two over. I paid a lot over for my trail edition, but it's what I wanted and knew I would probably never find another one with 85k and perfect condition.

6 years of ownership and 150k’ish more miles and loving this thing as much as ever. Now sitting at 255k miles and runs like a top.
