Evidence? Google "are power stop brakes made in china?" The answer is yes. Call powerstop and ask them. They're made in China.

Their headquarters have been in California since the 70s because that's where the shipments arrive from China.

They're literally Chinese crap, painted a different color. Lately, the quality has decreased dramatically. Powerstop has no control over the quality.

The fact they’re made in China doesn’t make them crap. They’ve been fine on my truck for 50K+ miles.

You're right, just because they're made in China doesn't make them crap. However, for what they charge for them, they're crap. Powerstop are the same as all other calipers, since they're mostly made in china. The only difference is they got painted a different color. You could get the same caliper anywhere else, since they're made in China, and paint them yourself.

I hate buying shit from China because we are giving them power over us by doing so. I'd rather buy from Canada or Mexico before buying from China. At least then the money stays nearby.

I have OEM calipers right now on the 06' sport. Nothing special, they work fine.

Thanks, I thought your responses might be about more than brakes, and I don't disagree with the sentiment. But here's the deal, and I'm not saying this is any better but I'm not sure they're selling new calipers to begin with. Given their core return requirements, there appear to be two possibilities:

1. Their calipers aren't new at all - they remanufacture whatever customers return, powder coat them, and sell them, in which case you don't really know what you're getting until it shows up (and maybe not even then); or

2. Their calipers are new and they have the strict requirements so they can resell the returned cores to reman companies.

If anybody knows for sure, please chime in.

Let me also clarify that I don't currently have PowerStop calipers, just rotors and pads. I discovered my seized caliper during a brake job late in the afternoon. Had to be at work the next morning so I had to source them locally. Went with AutoZone's Duralast for the lifetime warranty but then that turned weird when one was painted and one wasn't. Their explanation (excuse?) was that the parts come from different manufacturers. I didn't have time to paint the one (should have made the time) so now one still looks good and the other is covered with rust. I researched PowerStop calipers b/c I was considering using them as replacements but have since backed off given they only have a 3-year warranty and my uncertainty over exactly what they're selling.

Understood. To add, the "excuse" you think that autozone was giving you is a result of allowing all the US manufacturing to go overseas. We have little to no control over the quality. American businesses who purchase from China and sell them here simply become middle men. I doubt they were lying to you at Autozone, they just can't do much about it.
