Back up camera mounting locations

Anyone have good suggestions on locations for a back up camera? I'm upgrading the radio on our 2000 4runner, and thought adding a back up camera would be a good idea.

I have searched the forums and saw some threads on wiring, etc., but not many posts on where to mount the camera (other than the license plate mounted ones).

On our Land Cruiser, I have an inexpensive back up camera that fits into the license place lamp space perfectly (it replaced one of the license plate lamp assemblies). I was hoping to find something similar for 3rd gen 4runners, but all I could find was only for 2002+.

Any suggestions and pictures on simple back up camera mounting locations would be appreciated. THANKS.

I would use either the license plate bolts. Or mount it on the rear bumper.

The license plate maybe very difficult to snake wires in as those wires need to go through the boot and down around in.

On the bumper. You can either follow the path of the hitch wires or come out with the side lights and run the wire down along the sides

This is how i wired my extra set of reverse lights in. I tapped onto the reverse light wires and connect my mini light bars to those 2 wires on each side and went to led bulbs in the factory reverse lights.

I put one in the hole for the rear wiper. But it was kinda a whole ordeal having to run it through the tailgate around the whole window regulator and all that.
