backseat headrest vent

backseat headrest (edit RANT)vent to many people thought veny meant air vents.

So I'm out shopping with my wife this weekend and our daughter who is 11 weeks old decided she was hungry so I take her out to the truck and I'm in the back seat feeding her and I rest my head on the headrest in the back seat and I think I've hit my head on more comfortable wooden headboards, those are the most uncomfortable headrests I have ever seen..... So I'm like well I'll fix this I'll switch the front with the back and then order 3 fronts for the back seats and as I'm testing I realize they are different sizes... Basically I wanted to vent about this and see if anyone else has experienced this and if there is any "fix" for this out there as creative as some of the "fixes" or mods I've seen I'm sure there is something someone has done about this. Thanks in advance guys.

:iagree: I know they are slightly different sizes between the posts but if you give it a little extra effort they will go in. I have done this because I bought some Vizualogic headrests (another rant) and took the OEM headrest and moved them to the back. The biggest headache I found is that they have to be fully removed if you fold down the back seat. Since I don't do this often it isn't a big deal for me but because of the very tight fit it could be for others.
 
I have third row seating in my runner. The second row seats in my configuration feature full size headrests for the left and right passengers sans the middle. If you are going to order some headrests for your second row, perhaps the full size headrests for the 2nd row for runners with the third row option would fit (I know, that made sense). Be warned though, the second row full size headrests are not exactly like the front seats' headrests. Unlike the front, they do not tilt but instead are in a fixed angle. Let me know if you need the width measured between the head rest posts. I can't imagine why that distance would be different from a runner with differing second row seats.
 
I am pretty sure head rests were not designed to be pillows for the people riding in the vehicle. They are there to minimize whiplash in an accident. Just my .02

To this I have to think that in the event of an accident on the backlash part you would probably be injured by the headrest in the backseat.

Also to everyone else thanks for the ideas and the idea of the 3rd row models with the second row headset I might check that out because my mother-in-law has the 3rd row model and I'll take hers out and check it out thanks again guys for all the help.
 
They also get in the way when installing car seats, you have to elevate them... just fyi on the rear headrest vent... ( I thought there was some rear headrest airblowing vent too) lol!!!
 
The back headrests are smaller so the seat can be folded forward/flat without having to take them off.

I bet it wont feel great, but it is made to stop your neck from snapping back upon impact.

Hence the reason Toyota did not make it in the most recent listing of the safest vehicles. The single complaint from the insurance safety tests about all Toyota vehicles was the headrest does not do enough to protect the passengers' necks and heads.
 
That may be so but what NoLimitSoldier was saying is that they are uncomfortable. I was just trying to say that they are not meant to be comfortable, they are there for safety reasons.

I can barely get the back seat down without the head rests , how is possible to do with the head rests in ? Maybe I'm missing something ?

Anyway I took my back 3 out the day I brought it home because they blocked my view and I could'nt get the seats down.
 
All you have to do is move the front seats up a little and then slide them back to where you like them. I have never had to take my headrests off to fold the seats down.

So I need to go to the front seats and move them up , go to the back and fold down the seats , then go back up front and reposition the seats.

Both my driver & pass. seat have to be all the way back for me to drive.

I'm going out to the garage right now to try it.

OK I'm back & what I told you is correct. I have to jam the seat back down against the bottom to get it to go down. The head rest would have to come off , even with them off if hard to do , much less screwing around back & forth front to back BS and having to go to the other side and do the same thing.

+ I hate to look at them in my rear view mirror.
