Backup Camera and Factory Navigation

I have been doing some research on installing a backup camera to my 2003 factory Navigation. I know that If I buy the BEC it is plug and play. This has been done by many people I know. I know that when they hooked it up there was already a wiring harness hooked to the back of hte navigation unit. Does anyone know where these wires go to?

I have all the wiring diagrams, parts lists, etc for the 2003 4runner and they all point to the wires running to the tailgate.
When I look at the factory camera that toyota sells its just the camera with about a 6 inch harness attatched. Like it plugs into a harness located in the tailgate.

I guess my question is does anyone know where those wires run to? Did anyone try to track them down? Like I said all my diagrams show these wires running to the tailgate.

Any information would help as I was quoted $2100 dollars to have the camera hooked up. I just didnt want to void any warranty if I did this myself running it all the way from one end to the other if I did it myself.

Thanks
Barry

I had to run the wires from the camera to the NAV unit (takes some effort.) My 03 4Runner didn't come with nav... i added a Solara NAV to my 4Runner.

Thanks for the reply. I have been doing some more research on it. From what I am told, the 03 does have wires that run to the tailgate. I somehow have to tap into those and that is where the Camera wires are. The wires are already hooked into the head unit. However I will have to manufacture my own harness as just the 04s and higher will plug directly in to the factory harness in the rear tailgate.
