backup lights stays on

Hi guys, I was running on the highway in slushy winter conditions when i saw that the orange *R* light of the P-R-N-D was on in the same time then the green *D* in the cluster. 5mins later the check engine comes on. At home i saw that my backup lights were on. It stays on on parked, neutral and drive. I just want to know if it happens to someone else before i begin some researches. My truck is a 03 V8 LTD. I just removed the amps for the moments cause its around 5 degree F outside.

I don't have a 4th gen or an automatic but when I had issues similar to this with another vehicle I would move the gear selector all the way to the far end, back to park and then again. Sometimes it would take a couple cycles but something in my selector would get stuck and cycling it back and forth would realign everything and things would line up, proper gears were selected, etc.

Hope it's something easy.

its sure i will try anything ,maybe its a bad contact. I recently change the left complete taillight like 2 months ago.

i got an update, now the orange *R* light in the cluster is pale and when i'm braking it comes more flashy. when the engines running and i turn my lights off the only light that stays on in the cluster is the *R* :doh:hwell: i have in mind that my problem is in the selector.
