Backyard garage in Hawaii that do a 6-8 inch lift on a 5th gen.

Generally the 4runners are limited to 3 inches, unless you do a complete overhaul of the suspension with something like a total chaos Long Travel kit which only gives 3-4.5 inches of lift. Or you could do a solid axle swap... which I don't believe anyone has done on the 5th gen yet. SAS would be EXTREMELY intense build with many custom parts, and probably hundreds of hours of custom fabrication. Generally people here use spacers or new coilover combos to achieve 3 inches of lift. Our front suspension is Independent which has many limitation in what we can do.

or just install a fabtech or procomp 6" suspension from an FJ:naughty:

Sup brah. I know you looking to do the install yourself, but my friend went through AMG Kustums (808-590-3504). Idk if your coworker went with them too. Try check um out on IG. Maybe they can point you in the right direction.

Don't want to pay expensive shop prices. I probably can do it myself but need more info. I read that I would have to use a "modded" FJ Cruiser kit.. Or can anyone refer me to some people that know what they are doing..

Yeah clearly there is a huge section of lifting that I had no idea was possible. You learn something everyday! And apparently it's a lot everyday! Do think it is incredible what people can do with these vehicles given enough time and/or money.

I like the look of the Fabtech but the Procomp has better CV angles. (at least for Tacoma kits)
