Bad bad BAD shaking... Then it goes away.

Honestly, it's not bad on the highway 99% of the time... Then all of a sudden it will just go nuts. It's only happened 3 times. Once tonight after doing the rack guide. I was trying to make it do it by accelerating quickly, sharp turns, hard brake checks... Finally got it to do it, to confirm my guide didn't fix the issue.

Let us know if the bushing fix it. Maybe it will motivate me to do it this weekend.

Mine is scary when it is wet out. I think its a combination sway bar bushings and the rack and possibly the guide.

Damn West coasters, the night is still young. Do it now!

Got the bushings in earlier this evening with the help of some awesome friends.

I was going to put it off until the weekend but on my way over there to put my 7th injector in, it became unbearable.

The result:
The steering is GREATLY improved. I was not able to replicate the problem on the way home, but that may be a fluke. I will update this again tomorrow after a bit more driving.

I did notice that there was still a bit of shaking when coming to a stop, this could just be from my rotors that I thought were going bad before the shaking started.

How bad was the bolt on top of the steering rack? The rest I can impact. Don't really feel like snapping a bolt on that one though.

just curious did the bushings solve your problem? my car is having the same exact issue.

It did not. It helped it, yes.

The dealership told me it was the rotors... Replaced those, no shakes until yesterday.

Took it to get aligned today and they told me my pass side caliper was seized so they couldn't align it... Replacing that next week and getting the alignment...

The fact it started when you made a hard turn would make you think LBJ. Test it this way. Lift the front wheel from under the lower control arm at the ball joint. This will keep the wheel at the same position as if it were sitting on the ground. What can be deceiving is lifting the wheel and letting it hang will change the angle of the joint and possibly feel more solid than it really is. Once you lift from the ball joint, yank at 6 & 12 for any play. It almost sounds like the ball joint is ready to fail. Replacing the caliper and LBJ would be high on my list if I were you.

I had the very similar high speed/shaking/intermittent symptoms in my gs300 when I first bought it. Turns out that one of the front factory calipers was seized up.

Check post 14 on the first page. I had a horrendous time diagnosing similar issues on my old Acura. Turned out being a sticky caliper, which in turn warped the sh1t out of the rotors, which caused other issues. That being the case, I then learned to ALWAYS retorque my lugs anytime the monkeys at the tire shop touched the wheels. I made it part of my monthly routine to retorque the lugs as well, especially with the expensive aftermarket parts I was running at the time.
