Bad idle air control valve ??

My engine is making a new noise that started suddenly.

I am having a problem with idle speed. I must SLIGHTLY rev the engine until it warms up. if I do not do that, the engine will shudder and stall.

Once warmed up engine will run but not smoothly.

Now, about that mysterious noise. It is NOT a loud BANGING. But still quite loud. More of a loud tapping than a banging. Hard to describe the noise but by using a mechanics stethoscope the noise APPEARS loudest at the base of the throttle body. throttle body.

I suspect that it could be a dirty, sticking IAC. I intend on removing the throttle body and cleaning both it and the IAC.

I'm but sure but I think the electromagnet spins and may be causing the noise

Has anyone experienced an IAC valve that makes a loud noise ?

The IAC valve has a spinning part in it. So if you hear noise from there that's probably the issue

Thank you, jross. If my cleaning of the IAC valve, does not work, I'll replace it with a new one. I sure hope that is the problem and NOT a rod knock.
