Bad news.... I think

I have kind of an odd post to make here, but anything you can offer up is good. I am at college and I got some awful news today. My mom was driving my T4R around today on the highway, and she broke down. She described it as the engine started making noise, then lights started popping up on the dash, and she began to lose power. She managed to pull the truck over, and she said that the exhaust was blowing out greyish whiteish smoke. I am pretty far away and I wont be able to check it out for at least a month. I am just asuming the worst right off, blown head gasket. If it could be anything else, please give me some good news, but if not, just confirm my suspisions. Thanks a bunch, Sam.

Time for a new engine , did she shut it down right away?

If not might start looking, what do you have the V6 or the 4?

That sucks though hope she got help quick and safe.

I had to force my Mom to have a charged cell phone for the chance she could break down, it is a screwed up world with screwed up people in it.

keep us posted.....

Brand new here, wish I'd found this forum sooner.
Sounds like the HG - mine went with only 80k on it. Its a 95 and I bought it w/50k back in 99 or 2000. The repair cost me about $1700 by the time the heads were machined, pumps were replaced, etc. but thats mainly because I went thru a dealership thinking that it may be covered by that sludge recall - but unfortunately no. The dealership & toyota said it was my fault for insufficient maintence.
I've since put another 100k on it without any problem besides replacing the radiator.
Good Luck

Yeah, from what she said, the truck just lost power and started to die pretty quick. It's 22RE with around 220 g's on it. I was hoping to get some more, but it looks like I just found my project for next summer... My mom got off the highway fine, and she even caused and accident because someone was looking at my trcuk and not the car in front of them. From what I understand, a head gasket is around 100 for the part, and I will most definately be doing this myself. I plan to bring the head to my local shop and have them check it for warping. I might do that, or I might find a Supra and do a I6 or I6turbo swap. That would be sick. The truck itself isnt in so hot condition, so I could also just find an 85 and swap my parts over. I have plenty of ways to recover from this, and they all will be better than what I had. Thats how I gotta think of it. Thanks for the input, Sam.
