bad smoke smell

I got a used gear bag, 1000 Denier ballistic nylon. Guy is a smoker. Anything you know for sure that will get it out? Factory got back to me, said to air it out. Tried Febreze, no luck. ideas? thanks. ran

This is my third Maxpedition bag, too bad the seller is a serious smoker. no ideas?

Drown it in baking soda and leave it for a few days, i do the same for my car interiors after they start to smell (dump runs are killer).

I think I am getting somewhere on this. I have a smaller FR-1 bag also, tried numerous things. Finally a detergent hand wash (website says no machine wash or detergent). FR-1 is a First Aid bag, so I don't care about water resistant. The larger Messinger bag still smells, lots of deep pockets and storage. I have tried baking soda and vineger rinse. Will try detergent next. just got burned on this one. ( PFII is my favorite bag right now.) thanks

Tried febreze first. Is old school Lysol any better? Will detergent wash it later today. takes overnite to dry. MaxP owner? thanks

I've read that distilled white vinegar will eliminate smoke odors... If you pour some in a bowl and place a hand towel in the bowl and place it in your car, it is supposed to "suck" the odors out? It should work in small amounts inside the bag if it works for the whole car.

It is sitting in hot detergent right now. I was rinsing with Apple cider Vinegar, any difference? Wonder how many Maxped owners we have here?

Well the overnite soaking in unsented Arm & Hammer, then a few buckets of water to rinse. Air dryed outside today, seems good enough to keep in the house now. This will be a work bag of paperwork, lunch, waters, etc. Small FA kit, gear pocket. Drop by EDCForums.com some time. thanks for help guys, ran
