Bad Vibration When Stopping

I have a 2000 4runner Limited 4x4 and i got in may and i had a problem with the brakes so i replaced them....then i had some bad vibrations and they said the rotators had to be cut so they did that...it was good for awhile now it came back and whenever i stop the truck starts vibrating and its getting worse...im wondering if i should just go to toyota and have them put on toyota brakes...wondering if thats the problem

It could be warped rotors. You say you had the brakes replaced, so it sounds like the pads were replaced the the rotors turned. If it is still having issues, I'd investigate getting new rotors. How many miles is on the truck?
 
167,000 MILES AND I THINK THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED ALREADY....NOW I GOT THE DAMN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT CAME ON AND I JUST DID A TUNE UP WHEN THE LAST LIGHT CAME ON...IT HAPPENED JUST AFTER MY OIL CHANGE AND ROTATION ON TIRES....NO CLUE WHAT IT IS THIS TIME
 
yea got them balanced when i got the oil changed and thats when they tried saying something is wrong with one of my rims now because the weight distribution is way off on the one wheel
 
how tight are they torquing your wheels down to after they get done doing your brakes that what happen to me... They only need to be tightened to 70 FTLBS.....

Oh think about doing a tundra brake upgrade
 
watch your RPM's the next time you're breaking. If they are dipping way too low - you could have a vaccuum leak

Try braking in in neutral and see if you get the same vibrations
 
I have noticed on my rig that the whole truck is very sensitive to vibrations of all sorts. My recommendation is to put on new disks and brakes. Preferably OEM and this will take care of the issue until it rains and your rotors are hot enough to get warped once again. I had the same issue and changed the rotors and got aftermarket ones. after a week of driving in the rain the vibration came back replaced them with OEM ROtors and pads and voilaa issue was resolved. Now im due to get that done again.

You may wanna try Ebay there are some cross drilled rotors they have up for sale which they "CLAIM" to be warp resistant. Anyone out there tried these out?
 
just do the tundra/sequioa up grade. you will never have to worry about this problem again. the brake on these 4runner are crap. they are undersize in my book.

What do u mean by the upgrade? New Calipers, rotors, and pads? how much would that set u back and where could I get it?
 
calipers can be found on tundra forum or ebay. i got mine for $100 on ebay. cross drill/slotted rotor and pads was bought on ebay for $120 shipped. i did the install with a friend which took about 30min each side. i say about $250 was my total price. fed a friend and fluid to bleed the brakes. look at how much money and time you would have to "waste" each time your get a warp rotor? plus labor if you cant do the install. well worth the buck i should say.

you can also sell your caliper to a tacoma guy. as they like to do the 4runner brake upgrade.
 
yes it direct bolt on. only modyfication is to cut the dust shield which is very easy. the only hard part of the mod is to bleed your brakes.
 
Could be the drums out back too. I got my front rotors replaced at the beginning of the year which stopped my violent shaking while braking, but since then, another apparent shake has started up, and I think that means its time for new drums.
 
def do the tundra upgrade.. I had the same problem and spent a ton of money on diff. rotors.. util I found this site and another yota forum... find some used tundra or sequoia calipers that are stamped with Sw13 and are 199mm get some new pads and oem tundra rotors... only works with 16 in wheel though

i had the same problem with mine, at 60-50 slight shake, 50-40 mild shake, 40-25 verry bad if i had a cup in cup holder it would shake it self out and spill. I replaced the roters (left and right) and it stoped
 
tundra upgrade


read this, it should have some good info about prices and where to get stuff for the upgrade. haven't done it yet but i also have the same problem and need to.
