I did this when I was prepping mine for color-match...I thought it looked really cool with that brushed aluminum/pewter look, but I continued to color-match my emblems and love it...looks great though!

Nah, just put some masking tape around them.

Looks awesome! My 97 4Runner Limited has the gold emblems too. That was a $600 option back then, but I really don’t like the gold look. So all you have to do is sand the emblems to get the silver color?

Sounds like one of those old tales... anti-freeze works better than oil because its lighter!
