Baja Rack vs. Gobi Stealth Rack

You can walk on a Baja as well, sleep up there, whatever you want. Either brand is going to be good for durability. The no rise (good) or standard (better) Gobi are good racks to add lights too. I personally like my flat baja but wouldn't recommend it for lighting additions.

Thank you for this I was reading on bsja's website and looking at the standard basket with mesh floor and it indicated a weight of 300lb and static of 600lb. And I think gobi has a weight capacity of 1000lbs . I'm not too sure

The weights are good to know because then how does this play into adding a roof top tent, and then my fat ass, and then my wife's skinny ass. Definitely exceeds 300lbs right there.

I use a baja flat rack.. No issues what so ever.

Would buy it again.. Gobi suing companies for producing other racks was enough to shy me away.

Anyone ordered anything from BajaRack lately? I ordered a ladder in April and they still haven't finished it. I wouldn't have ordered if I knew it took over 8 weeks to make a ladder. Companies make entire racks faster than that.

does anyone's baja rack rattle like crazy, because mine sure does. I have a flat utility rack with the cross bar floor.

Haven't had any issues with mine. Theres nothing that should really rattle unless maybe the fairing is loose or some of the platforms are not tightened properly?

Mine rattles when I hit small bumps on the road. The top of my rack shakes from the vibration, and it makes noise in my cabin.

I'll give baja a call.

Can someone with a gobi rack pull a tape measure out and show how high the top tube of the center/usefull section of the rack is off the roof of the 4R?
BR's website shows this very nicely and gobi's does not. Ignoring the raised front I'm looking to compare the heights of the racks.
thanks

Not sure if this is going to help, but just something to consider. Not on my 4Runner, but on my FJ I had an ARB rack and returned it for the Baja Utility rack, which I REALLY liked. Back to the ARB, are you hearing a humming or airplane like noise when driving? My ARB, at certain speeds, vibrated the crossbars like guitar cords. It stumped me until I reached out my window and had my hand on the crossbars and felt them vibrating massively at certain speeds. It was strange and ARB didn't believe me until I had someone at the dealer confirm. Then they took it back shipping and all. Anyway, not sure if your situation is the same, but it sounds somewhat similar. Hope that helps!

Let me know if you still need this measurement. I have the Gobi Stealth rack and can measure the distance for you. Assuming you're interested in the Stealth rack as opposed to the Ranger rack.

yup, thats my exact situation. I tighten it since then and the vibrating is practically one now, but it still there if I hit consecutive bumps, but it isn't that loud. It's something I can live with now. I'm too lazy to take it off and ship it back to baja to get a new one.

LOL I hear ya. I felt the same way until they said they would pay for shipping. That's when I found the motivation ;)

I've searched and haven't found anything maybe I missed it but does anyone know if the Baja rack ladder work with the gobi stealth rack? I like the way the Baja ladder has the kink compared to the gobi's straight design. But I favor gobi roof rack design more

My wife saw the Gobi on another 4Runner the other day on our way home with the new SR5. She said "that's a nice looking roof rack. You should totally get it." Needless to say, I'll be ordering it this week.

I believe the ladder will work based on clearance, but if you order a Gobi you get their ladder and HD struts for free through Trail Duty now. The Baja ladder will cost you $250-300 plus HD struts. Not sure if expenses are a concern, but something to keep in mind.

Looks great!!! What did you use to paint the chrome on the side steps? Did you paint the rubber parts as well?

Just oicked up my 2017 4runner yesterday and first thing im looking to do is adding a rack. Ive just starred researching them amd fiunds several manufacterers, baja and gobi being he nost popular. I eventuallt want to add roof lights but do kike the round ones. Does rhe stealth allow round lights and does anyone have any experience with gobi ranger?
