BajaRack on 5th Gen with an RTT and clamps are $70!

Recently installed my Bajarack on my 4Runner. I have a Tepui tent and see that BajaRack offers 4 small clamps to attach the RTT to the rack at a price of $70! What gives? They look like simple clamps. Is there something else to them? Does anyone have some insight on it? $70 seems like alot for a simple set of small metal plates.

Is it the basket or flat utility rack? I just used some 2" square tubing and 3" U-bolts to attach mine to the rack rails on my basket.

Personally, I think $70 is stupid. But, I understand the basics of supply and demand, and I also have $ thousands invested in shop tools. If you don’t have the ways or means to duplicate that simple piece of bent steel, then $70 it is. It’s times like this that should motivate you to DIY.

Personally I feel like spending $70 extra dollars to get the correct hardware from the rack manufacturer is not that bad of a deal considering $2-3k was most likely dropped on the rack and RTT combo.

Good point. I was looking to get a few other things and was looking to save costs (bought rack on a group buy and RTT using my REI discount/dividend). I could not see what was special about those little plates to connect to the rack.
