ball joints...aftermarket or stock?

If I were to be stupid enough to try to add upper and lower ball joints to my MLK weekend of mods and repairs, do you think I should stick with factory Toyota parts from a dealer, or are Moog or some other aftermarket part from the local parts store just as good? The only reason I would prefer the local parts store option is I don't know if I can get the parts from Toyota in time.

I know that with some parts it's best to stay true to Toyota...is that the case with ball joints?

Well, the Moog(or any other part you get from auto parts stores) usually have a lifetime warranty, and are usually cheaper. I dont think toyota has but a 90 day warranty on their parts(i may be wrong) I personally would buy the ones from the auto parts store. I just rebuilt my whole steering system using regular auto parts from O'reily, and i have not had any issues.

i had a lower ball joint fail me when i was driving a customers astrovan, DAMN SCARRY! the lower A arm was grinding on the asphalt and blew out the tire, almost ground the shock off the A arm! CRAZY!

Toyota OEM are made by Three Five (555) I believe. Made in Japan. If you can get these at your auto parts store they would be great quality and fit.

go Moog. they have lifetime warranty. i do side work all the time on differnt cars and have always used moog. never had a problem with a warranty part the few times that a replacement was needed. but i trust there parts even on my old race car.

stick to toyota parts! if i had a GM i would go buy moog or equivalent from the local parts store ... i buy toyota products for toyota quality ... a copy of it by another company just isn't the same.
