Ball Joints cost?

I read through some other posts about ball joints, and called my local Toyota dealer to get an estimate of cost. My 2004 4wd has about 180,000 miles on it now. They told me $2,936 including wheel alignment. Said the parts come as a kit with control arms for $1800. Seems about 3 times what it cost on my F150. I guess Toyota gold plates theirs?

my system gives about $1800 for just the control arms. so that's about right.


that said, I also list just ball joints. perhaps they can be pressed out and changed. it would be much cheaper...

from my understanding the FJ arms are the same. maybe look for a cheap set of takeoffs? i picked up an OEM takeoff set with 5k on them for $20 total. i salvaged the OEM BJs for my camburg BJ UCAs.

lower arms will be harder to find. i think camburg actually makes a replacement set that might be cheaper than OEM toyota.

Obviously your looking to have a shop do this for you.
If was you, purchase the joints without arms online and find
private/replable shop push and pull them for you.
I just bought lower ones for $55 and did it myself.
