I am running ACDelco balljoints and inner/outer tie rods. So far I've put about 4000 miles on them without any issues. That inclures 5 or 6 trips to the beach and running in 4wd at 35mph. I couldn't justify the cost since I was able to buy 2 LBJ's, and inner/outer tie rods for about 180 bucks!

I've run both the 555's and Toyota OEM. Haven't an issue with either, although the 555's (and every other aftermarket unit) come in bare metal. The OEM units comes painted black, and just feel better overall.

I ordered my OEM ones from ShopTRD - Your ONE STOP Shop for Genuine Toyota Parts & Accessories. They were about $85 each I think.

I did OEM ball joints and outers on this truck, 555 brand inners.

On my '97 I did 555 brand LBJ's and outers. Didn't change the inners.

No issues with either. Really no difference in quality either other than as mention, the non OEM parts need to be painted. (Or at least I painted them)

Going to get a price quote on replacing mine today. It's one of those things, my 4 has 181k with OEM joints. So paying a little extra for proven OEM may have its justification.

I got Moogs from Advanced Auto. Still good after 5k or more miles. I only go to the dealer for stuff you can't get from the parts store. Like rear wiper blades and bent Steering rack bolts.

I got my oem joints from Olathe Toyota, $170 for both sides. I figured I'd spend the money once and do it right rather than do it multiple times with aftermarket especially when failure is so catastrophic.

P/n's are 43330-39585 and 43340-39465. I don't remember which is left and right off the top of my head

Moog LBJs are WELL KNOWN to fail. When an LBJ fails it is pretty serious.

Like it has been said, choose wisely. I tow for a living and I've towed a lot of broken ball joints and it is by far one of the hardest tows and most pain in the ass to do. I've been lucky and in 16 years I haven't damaged a car with a broken ball joint beyond what was done. They are one if the biggest pains in the butts to do. I've seen them do some major damage. I will be getting OEM parts.

Not to start an internet fight but do you have proof of this or did you just have a bad experience? I've done several web searches and haven't seen anything close to "WELL KNOWN to fail". Mostly just one guy ranting about his bad experience on whatever site. I'm very happy with my Moogs so far. They look great and are made in Japan but if there's actual proof they're dangerous then I'd be willing to read it.
